Biography

Lisa Malinowski Kamran (she/her/they) is Mindfulness Educator, Yoga Instructor, Meditation Teacher and Sacred Activist. Lisa considers herself to be an ecocentric being because has always found sanctuary amongst nature which inspires the way she is in connection with others, attuned, grounded and patient. Lisa’s offerings are rooted in trauma-informed and community-centered practices, leaning into the whole-being experience.

Lisa’s personal experiences with anxiety, depression and chronic pain throughout her life often created feelings of being disconnected and overwhelmed. During university, while living abroad in the Netherlands, Lisa’s friend introduced her to the art of yoga and meditation. For Lisa, the practice felt like an invitation to come home to the body, which quite simply became a practice to support her in her physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing from then on. Her interest in diving deeper into the practice rippled into years of practicing, absorbing, and sharing yoga, meditation and mindfulness practices. Lisa’s playfulness and authenticity allows her to be a dynamic and compassionate space holder.

Her calling to this work has brought her around the world being passed on wisdom offered through years of teacher training and retreats exploring the practices of Prana Vinyasa, Hatha Yoga, Vipassana, Prenatal Yoga, Children's Yoga, MBSR (mindfulness-based stress reduction), Mindful Education, trauma-informed mindfulness and movement practices, and Transformative Educational Leadership. Lisa became a Search Inside Yourself Leadership Certified Teacher in 2018.She is a nationally Certified Yoga Instructor (ERYT) with over 1000 hours of teaching yoga, a Yoga Ed. Trainer, a Certified Children's Instructor (RCYT), a Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher (RPYT) and a Certified Yoga Education Provider (YACEP). Lisa was on the Crim Fitness Foundation’s Mindfulness Team in Flint, Michigan for four years where she found her love for community and cultivating spaces for mindfulness to be accessible and trauma-informed.

Lisa honours the roots and the wisdom of these ancient practices and offers her gratitude to the many teachers and cultures that have tended to the practice before her and will follow after her.

She continues to lean into this work as she gently lands in Toronto, Ontario where she is currently enrolled in a Two Year Program at University of Toronto for a Masters of Social Work. In her free time she enjoys traveling, running and spending time exploring with her partner, Fandi and pup, Juno.
