Val Tan

Val Tan

Val grew up in a family temple in Singapore, where meditation was taught like a competitive sport and had to be done the ‘right’ way. “As a 4-year-old, I had to sit up straight and be absolutely still and quiet. If I were so much as to wiggle my itchy nose, the stick will come.”

Today, Val runs a global modern meditation practice, M Meditation. At M, mindfulness and meditation are not only taught in an accessible manner—through science and storytelling; there’s also an emphasis on #IRL (in-real-life) applications. M has been hired as a strategic partner for organizational wellness initiatives with companies such as Airbnb, Expedia, W Hotel Seattle, and more.

Val is also a 5th generation spiritual advisor and success strategist for frontier companies seeking to actualize their next-level purpose and potential. She’s helped hundreds of successful business leaders, investors, coaches, doctors, and founders embody and set in motion their legacies with clear-eyed vision, groundedness, and deep trust.

Val graduated magna cum laude from the Lee Kong Chian School of Business at the Singapore Management University. In 2010, Val left an award-winning advertising and media career and set off to travel the world by bicycle for a documentary project to inspire dreams. 5 years, 3 continents, 500+ national media appearances, and 2 TEDx talks later—Val settled in the Pacific Northwest, where she enjoys long walks and good matcha with her work and life partner, Tay.
