The Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute (SIYLI-- we pronounce it as “silly”!) brings mindfulness and emotional intelligence to people and organizations around the world. The rigorous and science-based Search Inside Yourself program was originally developed at Google and has been received enthusiastically for organizational and individual development. SIYLI shares the SIY program in several ways: through public/open-enrollment programs, training teachers to share the SIY program, and through client organizations that train their employees. 

The SIYLI Outbound Engagement Manager would be a part of the team that works with clients organizations- what we call the Direct team. We work with a wide range of organizations, from tech companies to government agencies, from manufacturing to professional services. The SIY program is offered to employees within these organizations in many ways as well, generally as either a wellbeing or skills training program or as a leadership development program.

About the SIYLI Outbound Engagement Manager role:

The Outbound Engagement Manager position is responsible for developing new client relationships. The expectation is that you’ll have your own ideas and strategies for how to develop new business-- you will be responsible for developing an outbound sales strategy (working with the Director of the Direct team) and implementing it to achieve an agreed upon revenue and margin target. Outbound sales initiatives could include: outreach to your existing network, cold outreach and networking, speaking at relevant conferences and trade association meetings, responding to corporate RFPs, etc. 

Success for this role would mean implementing outbound sales initiatives that are aligned with SIYLI’s brand, results in >$400,000 USD in additional revenue in 2020, and develops new long-term clients and repeat business. SIYLI’s sales approach is consultative. We aim to embody emotional intelligence, presence and compassion in all of our interactions. 

Responsibilities:

  • Outbound sales activities:
    • Develops and implements an outbound sales strategy that is likely to result in $400,000 USD in revenue in 2020 (minimum revenue amount of $200,000) 
    • Builds a pipeline of new clients from network, conferences and other channels, and regularly follows up until a deal closes or until it is clear it will not close
    • Presents a clear and compelling representation of SIYLI, and adapts proposals to meet client needs while keeping aligned with SIYLI program development capabilities
    • Builds strong relationships with prospects through calls/video meetings, providing resources and support, timely responses to email and occasionally in-person meetings
    • Manages a large number of prospect situations simultaneously
    • Consistently closes new business
    • Tracks all sales activities in Salesforce and generates sales forecasts
    • Regularly shares and tracks customer feedback from sales discussions and customer programs
  • Client relationship management: 
    • Develops and maintains relationships with the clients
    • Delivers SIY programs with logistics support from the Direct Program Manager
    • Is organized and responsive to customer requests and internal processes (~24 hour turn-around expected on average)
  • Some travel may be needed
  • Responsibilities, tasks and projects may change as needed to support the team and success in outbound business development 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of applicable experience, ideally in an outbound sales position or client-facing business development role
  • Understanding of outbound sales approach and ability to design and execute successful business development strategy
  • Excellent sales-related people skills, including ability to empathize with potential clients, explore their needs, and make a clear pitch for SIY that is tailored to their individual challenges
  • Ability to talk about the subject of the SIY program clearly and communicate complex services which may require an extended engagement cycle
  • Ability to manage a large number of clients and prospect situations simultaneously, performing relationship and sales activities for 30-50 accounts at once
  • Strong negotiation skills, strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience or interest in bringing mindfulness/emotional intelligence trainings into organizations and supporting workplaces to be more aware and compassionate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience selling employee training programs to HR or L&D professionals/departments
  • Salesforce and Google Apps experience preferred
